Welcome to the Didsbury Figure Skating Club!

We’re more than just a skating club—we’re a community.
Join us and become part of a tradition that celebrates skill, spirit, and connection on and off the ice.

Skills, Tests, Achievement, Recognition – this is what STARSkate is all about!

This program teaches figure skating skills in a group and/or private lesson format in a progressive and sequential manner and includes specifically designed awards and incentives. Skaters have the opportunity to take Skate Canada Tests through a nationally standardized testing system.

STARSkate offers opportunities for skaters of all ages to develop fundamental figure skating skills in the areas of:

  • Ice Dance
  • Skating Skills
  • FreeSkate
  • Interpretive

Each of the four areas of development are divided into the following levels

Beginner Level Assessments Include:

Star 1-5 Skills, Star 1-5 Skills, Star 1-5 Dance, Star 1-5 Free Skate and Star 5 Artistic (All Star 1-5 levels are assessed by a coach)

Intermediate Level Assessments Include:

Star 6-8 Skills, Star 6-8 Dance, Star 6-8 Free Skate, Star 7 Artistic

Senior Level Assessments Include:

Star 9, 10 & Gold Skills, Star 9, 10, Gold & Diamond Dance, Star 9, 10 & Gold Free Skate, Star 9 & Gold Artistic

Skaters who have newly moved into the STARSkate program are required to wear a CSA approved helmet for a minimum of the first two weeks of skating within the club. Once DFSC coaches have approved no helmet is needed the skater is allowed to forego the helmet. It is recommended to use a Skating Halo for the season of this transition. Skaters who wore a Halo in a previous season will be required to continue to wear it for the first 2 weeks of skating as per the board's decision on safety.

Please note that refunds will only be given within the first 2 weeks of skating at the discretion of the board. A 10$ administration fee will be charged for refunds in the first 2 weeks of skating. After this date refunds will only be issued for medical reasons with a doctors note.

As one of our more challenging seasons comes to a close, we want to take a moment to recognize some of the support that helped us through it.
Thank you to the Town of Didsbury for selecting the DFSC as a recipient of the 2024 Community Grant Program.
This funding played a key role in helping us transition to new locations for the second half of our 2024/2025 season to continue offering programming for our senior skaters.
We appreciate the Town’s ongoing investment in youth sport and recreation.
Looking forward to getting back on home ice this fall.
