OUR STORY

 

Since 1962, the Didsbury Figure Skating Club (DFSC) has been at the heart of our community, helping skaters of all ages discover the joy, discipline, and creativity of figure skating. What began as a small-town club has grown into a vibrant, welcoming space where skaters can dream big and glide even farther.

In 1962, DFSC officially joined Skate Canada, the national governing body for figure skating in Canada. This affiliation provided our skaters with access to standardized, high-quality programming, skilled coaching, and a clear path for progression—whether skating recreationally or competitively.

In 1988, DFSC took another important step by incorporating under the Societies Act of Alberta, formalizing its commitment to the community and ensuring strong, sustainable governance for the future.

Over the decades, the club has evolved, but our values have stayed the same: inclusivity, skill development, sportsmanship, and fun. Our programs are designed to meet skaters where they are—whether they're stepping on the ice for the first time or preparing for high-level tests and competitions. We are proud to support skaters through CanSkate, Intro to StarSkate, StarSkate, PowerSkate, and our Adult Skating Program, all led by certified, passionate coaches.

More than just a skating club, DFSC is a place where friendships are formed, confidence is built, and lifelong memories are made. Our annual ice show, test days, and community events bring skaters, families, and supporters together to celebrate achievements big and small.

As we continue to grow, we remain rooted in our proud history while looking ahead to a bright future. Whether you're new to the sport, or a returning skater, we invite you to be part of our story.

 

 

  

 

We would like to sincerely thank the Town of Didsbury for once again supporting the Didsbury Figure Skating Club through the Community Grant Program for the 2026-2027 season.

This year’s funding will be passed directly on to our skating families through a $40 Community Grant Discount for each registered participant. The discount will be applied automatically at checkout while grant funds remain available, helping reduce the cost of registration and making our programs more accessible to local families.

The Town’s continued support over many seasons has played an important role in helping DFSC provide quality CanSkate, Intro to StarSkate, StarSkate, PowerSkate and Adult Skating programming in our community.

We are incredibly grateful for the Town’s ongoing investment in sport, recreation and community programming in Didsbury. Their support makes a meaningful difference for our club and the families we serve.
