DFSC Volunteer Commitment Policy

2025/2026 Season

The Didsbury Figure Skating Club (DFSC) relies on the support of its members to ensure the success of its programs, performances, and special events. Volunteer participation is essential to keeping our club community strong, events running smoothly, and costs accessible for all families.

For the 2025–2026 season, each skater registered with DFSC requires a commitment of 5–10 hours of volunteer time. This applies to all skaters enrolled in CanSkate, Intro to StarSkate (ITS), and StarSkate programs.

Volunteer Deposit & Opt-Out Options

Families have three options to fulfill the volunteer requirement:

  1. Complete a One-Time Credit Card Authorization Form in place of a cheque if you do not have access to cheques. This form must be submitted on the first day of skating, prior to the participant stepping on the ice. If the volunteer hours are not completed and no opt-out fee has been paid, the card will be charged $200 per skater after the season concludes.

  2. Submit a post-dated cheque for $200 per skater (dated March 21, 2026). The cheque will be returned or destroyed at the end of the season if the required volunteer hours for that skater are completed. Cheques must be submitted on the first day of skating, prior to the participant stepping on the ice. Families who do not provide a post-dated cheque by the first day will be required to complete a One-Time Credit Card Authorization Form.

  3. Opt-out of volunteering during registration by paying a non-refundable $200 fee per skater. This fee can be added to your cart during the online registration process.

Volunteer Opportunities May Include:

  • Year-End Carnival setup and supervision
  • Assisting with costumes, props, or decorations
  • Selling tickets or programs at events
  • Club fundraising initiatives & casino fundraising
  • Other tasks as identified throughout the season

A full list of opportunities will be posted on the DFSC website and on the DFSC bulletin board at the Memorial Complex Arena. Additional tasks may be added as the season progresses.

Commitment to the Policy

By signing this policy during registration, members accept and agree to the terms outlined above and acknowledge their responsibility in fulfilling the volunteer commitment required by the Didsbury Figure Skating Club for the 2025–2026 season.

As the 2025–2026 season comes to a close, we would like to sincerely thank the Town of Didsbury for once again supporting the Didsbury Figure Skating Club through the Community Grant Program.
Their continued support over many seasons has played an important role in helping our club provide quality skating opportunities for local children and youth.
This year’s funding was applied directly toward our ice rental costs and helped make it possible for us to continue offering CanSkate, Intro to STARSkate, STARSkate, and PowerSkate programming throughout the season.
We are incredibly grateful for the Town’s ongoing investment in youth sport, recreation, and community programming in Didsbury.
Their support truly makes a difference for our club and the families we serve.
