WELCOME TO THE DIDSBURY FIGURE SKATING CLUB!

We’re more than just a skating club—we’re a community.
Join us and become part of a tradition that celebrates skill, spirit, and connection on and off the ice.

Your ice time. Your goals. Your pace.

What is the Adult Skating Program?

DFSC’s Adult Skating Program is a recreational class for adults of all skill levels—from complete beginners to confident skaters looking to refresh or further develop their skills. Participants work toward their own goals in a relaxed, supportive environment alongside other adults who simply want to become stronger, more comfortable skaters.

Lessons are led by an NCCP-certified Skate Canada coach and tailored to each participant’s current ability and goals. Instruction may include balance, forward and backward skating, stopping, turning, crossovers, edges and more advanced skills as appropriate.

Who Can Register?

The program is open to adults aged 18 and over, including complete beginners, returning skaters and experienced recreational skaters who want to improve specific skills. No formal figure skating or hockey background is required.

Coaches will adapt instruction to each participant’s ability, experience and goals, allowing everyone to progress at an appropriate pace. Whether you are stepping onto the ice for the first time, returning after years away or looking to refine more advanced skills, the program is designed to meet you where you are.

Required Equipment

All participants MUST wear a current CSA-approved hockey helmet. Bike and ski helmets are not permitted. Helmet use is required for all participants, regardless of skating experience. Please review our Helmet Policy for full details.

Figure skates, hockey skates and recreational skates are all acceptable, provided they fit securely and are in safe condition.

Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely and stay warm on the ice. Gloves are strongly recommended.

Protective hockey equipment may be worn if it helps you feel more comfortable on the ice. However, sticks and pucks are not permitted during this program.

Helpful tip: Beginners may appreciate snow pants or other lightly padded clothing for a little extra warmth and cushioning while getting comfortable with falls.

Program Structure

The Adult Skating Program runs for 20 weeks from October through March, with one 1-hour class each Wednesday morning. Lessons are taught in a supportive group setting, with instruction adapted to each participant’s current ability, experience and personal goals.

Participants may choose to work through the official CanSkate stages, including assessments and skill completion, or simply focus on improving their skating for recreation and personal enjoyment. Lessons may include balance, forward and backward skating, stopping, turning, crossovers, edges and more advanced skills, depending on each skater’s goals and ability.

Participants in the Adult Skating Program will NOT take part in DFSC’s year-end Carnival.

Payment Options & Financial Support

A payment installment option is available at the time of registration. If your family requires alternate payment arrangements, please contact us at didsburyfsc@gmail.com to discuss further.

Volunteer Commitment & Fundraising Requirements

The Adult Skating Program has no volunteer or fundraising requirements. There are no raffle booklets, volunteer shifts or additional club commitments.

Just register, bring your skates and enjoy the ice—this program is designed to keep the focus on learning, improving and having fun.

We would like to sincerely thank the Town of Didsbury for once again supporting the Didsbury Figure Skating Club through the Community Grant Program for the 2026-2027 season.

This year’s funding will be passed directly on to our skating families through a $40 Community Grant Discount for each registered participant. The discount will be applied automatically at checkout while grant funds remain available, helping reduce the cost of registration and making our programs more accessible to local families.

The Town’s continued support over many seasons has played an important role in helping DFSC provide quality CanSkate, Intro to StarSkate, StarSkate, PowerSkate and Adult Skating programming in our community.

We are incredibly grateful for the Town’s ongoing investment in sport, recreation and community programming in Didsbury. Their support makes a meaningful difference for our club and the families we serve.
